Back to Life…Back to Reality

My favorite thing about the end of the semester, especially the Fall semester and the month of December, is that it brings with it a much needed break. A break from most work and school related responsibilities, a break from schedules, alarms, and meetings, and a break from the hustle and bustle of your daily life. In addition to the break, it also allots free time to spend with your loved ones and time to reflect and prepare for what’s to come in the New Year (yes, I’m going there…NEW Year, NEW Goals 😉).

Charging Up
Throughout this break, I found myself going back and forth about what I could be doing to get a jump start on the year. Eventually, I chose to enjoy the moment and to embrace my downtime. With that being said I literally took a BREAK and only did what was necessary outside of spending time with my family. As I look back, I know I did the right thing for me as I can honestly say that I am charged up and ready to conquer what’s to come 🔑. This down time time granted me an opportunity to plug back into one of my sources of strength and motivation, which is my family. The love of my family keeps me going, reminds me why I am doing what I am doing, and reassures me that I am well equipped and capable of moving forward and finishing strong…it was just what I needed 💫.

Moving Forward
With the free time allotted during the break, I planned out my goals for the next three months, year, three years, and lifetime 💡. The Passion Planner that I purchased for this school year lead this process of roadmapping my action plan to accomplishing these goals (an outline/example is provided below). Within outlining these goals, I felt a sense of renewal within my purpose, my hopes and dreams, and clarity as it relates to the direction that I aspire for my life to go in ✨. Simply put, this break and planning time was just what I needed before moving forward and getting back to business.

Back to Life, Back to Reality
As this week is the second week back- to work, to school, to the normal hustle and bustle of life- for many people, I wanted to use this post to encourage you to take on this new year, new season, new semester, as an opportunity to make the necessary adjustments to live the life of your dreams 😉. I am a firm believer that you are the captain of your own ship 🚢 , and that you can steer your ship in whichever direction you choose 💡. With that being said let’s make 2020 the year of walking in our purpose, being intentional about our actions, and establishing a life and legacy that you and your family will be proud of years from now.

Tips for Starting Off the New Year

  1. Identify your 2020 goals…break them down into categories that are important to you (i.e., academic, financial, spiritual, personal, emotional, relationship, and adventurous). Follow up by identifying steps needed to accomplish these goals (your roadmap).
  2. Adjust and Adapt…take some time to reflect on the previous year/semester, identify areas and/or practices that you can improve to have better outcomes in 2020.
  3. Create a vision board…doing so creates a visual reminder of the goals that you have identified.

We all need a break from time to time to refresh and to restore. It is my hope that you utilized your Holiday break well, and that you are pumped up and ready to conquer your 2020 goals. As it’s time to return back to life and back to reality, let’s go forward being intentional about our time and our purpose 🔑.

Update on Blog Postings
Along with a new semester, comes a new schedule. Considering my work and school related obligations you can now expect to receive new blog posts on every other Monday (instead of Wednesday).

Motivational Scripture 🙏🏽
Matthew 6:34- “So never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Each day has enough of its own troubles.”
