Give it all you got, AND THEN SOME!

On Sunday, January 26, 2020 the death of the legend Kobe Bryant and eight other victims, including his daughter, was confirmed. I will not make this post about his tragic death, but I will share a few lessons that we all can take from his life and his Mamba Mentality as we embark upon our individual journeys 💫.

Mamba Mentality- (adj) describes the level of intense focus and relentless approach he took both in preparation and competition. (v) To be able to constantly try to be the best version of yourself, better today than you were yesterday…Mental fortitude

Last week my Uncle encouraged me to read Relentless: From Good, to Great, to Unstoppable by Tim S. Grover with Shari Wenk 📖. This book defines three types of people, Coolers, Closers and Cleaners, and ultimately asks which are you and provides tips as to how to become unstoppable. I will not go into details about the book, but I will admit that it is a must read. The author is a personal trainer who has worked with some of the greatest athletes such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, etc, and throughout the book he uses various successful athletes as exemplars, and identifies the major key to their accomplishments as their mind-sets, and their relentless desire to get better 🔑.

Relentless- a state of mind that can give you the strength to achieve, to survive, to overcome, to be strong when others are not. It means craving the end result so intensely that the work becomes irrelevant.

Tips and Things to Consider:

  1. Your attitude determines your altitude ✨…what you think about yourself and the things you can do in your life, dictates your level of success and how far you will go…so dream big
  2. Positive mindset=positive outcomes 🧠…the Bible states “as a man thinketh, so shall he be”…so be kind to yourself by feeding your mind positive thoughts
  3. When you reach your current goals, go for even more (Iceberg) 💫 I believe that life is an incremental journey, with many rest stops and an undisclosed destination. If we look at reaching our current goals as a rest stop (time to adjust, adapt, power up then go for even more) then we continue to move forward, getting better along our journey, and being relentless within our individual pursuits to happiness, success, and living our best lives…so don’t stop, never become content with good or great, get in your zone and become unstoppable

As you go about your day, week, year, and life, I encourage you to GIVE IT ALL YOU GOT, AND THEN SOME ✨. Be relentless within the pursuits of your goals and always work to get better even when you become great. Tap into what sets your soul on fire and work to get better at it each and every day. Remember that life is not a race, it’s a marathon, so pace yourself, and continue on!
