The Secret

Have you read the book or watched the movie “The Secret”? If not, you definitely should. While the movie can be found on Netflix, the book was written by Rhonda Byrne, and is a self-help book about the power of positive thinking. Based on the pseudo-scientific theory, the “law of attraction,” The Secret focuses on the ideas that your mind is a magnet, emitting and receiving frequencies, and that your dreams do in fact have the potential to come true, as your life right now is a reflection of your past thoughts. Ok, I admit it may sound a little weird explained like this, but in simple terms…you receive what you put out in life and your thoughts become your reality 🔑.

In life we go through various experiences, some that excite us, some that challenge us, and others that frighten us. As students we are often faced with courses and assignments that make us question our abilities and ask ourselves questions like “can I really pass this class?” “Am I ready to apply what we’ve learned in class to experiences in the real world?” Furthermore, as adults, there are many family, career, and finance related encounters that make us question if we’re equipped with the necessities to carry out certain obligations and tasks. In all of these experiences, positive thinking is key 🔑.

Self efficacy- one’s belief in one’s ability to succeed in specific situations or to accomplish a task.

Positive thinking about your abilities is paramount to experiencing positive results 🔑. In the world that we live in, judgment, stereotypes, biases, and negative thoughts surround us unfortunately. However, we must make the conscious decision to counter these negative beliefs with self-assuring, respectful, and positive thoughts and beliefs about ourselves and our own abilities.

The underlying purpose of promoting self-efficacy and positive thinking is not about proving others wrong…IT’S ABOUT PROVING YOURSELF RIGHT ✨. Proving to yourself that you are capable of accomplishing great things, that you can pass that class, that you are equipped with the necessities to get the task done, and that you are well qualified for the job, etc.

This week I wanted to encourage you to feed yourself positive thoughts, and to rid yourself of any self-doubts and negative thoughts that you may have about yourself. Say this with me “I WILL SUCCEED, ACCOMPLISH MY GOALS, AND LIVE OUT MY DREAMS‼️ I challenge you to write yourself a note/love letter full of positive thoughts and self-affirmations about who you are and the things you want in life. Review this note frequently, and continue to journey through life as a light of positivity 💡so that your dreams and aspirations may be drawn to you.

Motivational Scripture 🙏🏽
Proverbs 23:7- “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

Thank you Auntie Gina. If we don’t believe in ourselves, who will?

Nice article Rachael, I love the power of positive thinking. It all begins with the mind, how we see ourselves is more important, it does not matter what we face, the decision to think positively is still ours to make. As for me i made a decision to think like a world changer and a giant.
